Meade's suggestion, and I wish to convey to you my approval of the result which you have obtained, and among others of the reply which you gave to the Chinese residents who waited upon you on the 22nd of May, and of your refusal to allow the Schools of the colony to be closed. The suggestions made by Dr Lowson in the concluding portion of his report of the 15th May will, I assume, receive the attention of the colonial government.
